Applications to Enrol
Domestic Students
Applications submitted after the deadline may be accepted if space is available. Apply online. Academic advice is available through the individual Division, Faculty or School of Study for returning students and from the Admissions Office for students enrolling in 100 level papers.
Standard Application Deadlines
Monday 5 December 2025 for papers that commence during Summer School 1 (H Teaching period) (5 January 2026 to 13 February 2026)
Monday 23 February 2026 for papers that commence during Trimester A (2 March 2026 to 28 June 2026)
Monday 6 July 2026 for papers that commence during Trimester B (13 July 2026 to 8 November 2026)
Monday 9 November 2026 for papers that commence during Summer School 2 (G Teaching period) (16 November 2026 to 18 December 2026)
Monday 9 November 2026 for papers that commence during Trimester C (16 November 2026 to 12 February 2027)
International Students
The University processes international student applications on an ongoing basis, regardless of the dates listed above. Offers are made with international student visa processing times in mind and as such, students may receive an offer for a later intake than originally requested.

Selected Programme Application Deadlines (Domestic and International)
The following programmes have application deadlines that differ from the standard deadlines:
31 May of the year prior Master of Nursing Practice (for international students).
31 August of the year prior Bachelor of Nursing and the Master of Nursing Practice (for domestic students).
15 September of the year prior for the Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Psychology, the Bachelor of Science with Honours in Psychology, the Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours in Psychology, Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology (Clinical), the Postgraduate Diploma in the Practice of Psychology, the Master of Applied Psychology and the Master of Professional Practice in Behaviour Analysis and the Master of Sciecne (Research) in Psychology.
30 September of the year prior for the Master of Pharmacy Practice and Master of Clinical Practice (Midwifery).
1 October of the year prior for the Master of Counselling.
31 October of the year prior for the Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Accounting, the Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Accountingand the Master of Professional Accounting.
1 December 2025 for new students for Teacher Education programmes. Applications received after this date will be considered if there are spaces available.
Two weeks prior to auditions taking place in the year prior to the qualification beginning for the Master of Music in Advanced Opera Studies Stream
Four weeks prior to commencement for the Certificate of Attainment in English Language (Levels 1-8)
One month prior to the intended start date of the thesis for thesis enrolments.
Enrolment Dates
Domestic Students
Enrolment is not complete until a signed enrolment agreement confirming the intended method of payment of fees option has been received by the University. Students must accept online or sign and return their enrolment agreement by
Monday 1 December 2025 for papers commencing 5 January 2026 to 15 February 2026.
9 December of the year prior for the Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Accounting and the Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Accounting (CA Programme starts in January of the following year (only one intake a year))
5 January 2026 (H Teaching Period) or 16 November 2026 (G Teaching Period) for the Master of Professional Accounting.
Friday 27 February 2026 for papers commencing 2 March 2026 to 28 June 2026 and papers commencing 2 March 2026 to 6 November 2026
Friday 9 July 2026 for papers commencing 13 July 2026 to 6 November 2026
Friday 9 November 2026 for papers commencing 16 November 2026 to 18 December 2026 and papers commencing 16 November 2026 to 12 February 2027
the Friday prior to the start date of a thesis enrolment.
International Students
One week within start date for the Certificate of Attainment in English Language (Levels 1-8)
For international students studying in New Zealand, enrolment is completed once a student has paid their tuition fee, arrived on campus and presented a valid student visa and signed their enrolment agreement.
The Global Recruitment Team supports international students – both overseas and those located in New Zealand - considering pre-degree, undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degrees by research.
The university has staff based in China, India, Viet Nam, Malaysia and the UK. The team provides comprehensive information on the university’s qualifications, the application and enrolment process and life in New Zealand. Students may contact the Global Recruitment Team directly, or meet them at exhibitions, schools, partner universities and education recruitment agent events.

Programme Advice and Planning
The Future Students Team assists students who are unfamiliar with the University or who require assistance to plan their programme of study. Prospective students can obtain information from the Student Centre by phoning 0800 WAIKATO, or emailing info@waikato.ac.nz. Alternatively this can be done in person by visiting the Hamilton campus (Level 2 of the Student Centre), or the Tauranga campus (Level 1 in the Student Hub) at 101-121 Durham Street, Tauranga.
The Future Students Team represent the University at regional careers expos, secondary school visits, and other events throughout New Zealand. They provide comprehensive information, personal advice sessions and campus tours, which are available by appointment. An Open Day and several information sessions are held throughout the year, and details are available on our website. Students can explore a range of options - undergraduate study, postgraduate study, bridging courses and pathways programmes. Prospective students will also receive information on the range of academic and support services available.
