English + Study Abroad
Increase your English language level and study abroad at Waikato!
Enrol in an English Language programme at the University of Waikato College and you could increase your IELTS level by 0.5 or 1! Spend a trimester doing an English Language course before starting your Study Abroad experience.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this programme, students must have:
- Completed at least two trimesters of full-time study at degree level at your home university
- Minimum B Grade average from previous university study
- IELTS level of 5.0 or 5.5, or equivalent
Entry into the Study Abroad Programme is contingent on passing the English Language component (6.0 IELTS with minimum 5.5 in all areas)

Visa Requirements
Students require a pathway student visa for this programme. This visa covers both the CAEL + Study Abroad Trimester. However, this does not allow students to study Law or postgraduate level papers.
