Supporting documentation guidelines

Students (including returning students) applying for Accessibility support are encouraged to share information about any condition, impairment, or experience that may impact their learning. This includes permanent, temporary, or fluctuating conditions.

We find official documentation can be helpful for this process, but you do not need to have documentation ready to complete the registration application.

You can submit your request for support now and upload documentation later if you choose to.

Why we ask for documentation:

Documentation helps our Accessibility team:

  • Understand how your disability or impairment may impact on your participation.

  • Identify any barriers that you may experience.

  • Make informed decisions about adjustments and support.

  • Collaborate with you to create a learning environment that works for you.

Any documentation you choose to share will be held securely within MyWaikato, with access given only to Accessibility Services.

Accessibility Services may share relevant information with other University of Waikato staff when necessary to support your study needs, including identifying and addressing any disability-related requirements that could affect your academic experience.

If you have any questions about documentation, please get in touch with us.
