UPDATE: Separate scholarship application process for new doctoral applicants, starting 1 March 2026
From 1 March 2026, the UoW Doctoral Scholarship suite is moving towards a student-led application process through MyWaikato, decoupling the scholarship application from the application to enrol in the doctoral programme. Students applying for enrolment in February can apply for the scholarship from 1 March and will not be disadvantaged.
Applying for a scholarship, you will now have the opportunity to provide commentary in support of your scholarship application, include academic and professional references, and submit updated materials if they have changed since your application to enrol. Applications will continue to be considered in four rounds each year and will still require an Offer of Place in order to be considered for a scholarship
Before you submit a formal application to enrol, be sure to read the doctoral application process.
Eligibility
The University of Waikato Doctoral Scholarship was established to support excellence in postgraduate research. No set number are available each year.
How to Apply
It is only possible to apply for this Scholarship as part of the Doctoral application to enrol. Before you submit a formal application to enrol, be sure to read the doctoral application process.
