Growing up in central Berlin, Germany, Linda Hurt dreamt of living near the beach and close to nature.

“Being able to live near Mount Maunganui and able to study towards my bachelor's at an internationally recognised university was one of the main reasons I chose Waikato,” Linda says.

Linda set up the Computer Science Student Society at the Tauranga campus, winning the ‘Supreme Club of the Year’ at the Waikato Student Union Club awards.

She values the access to the 24-hour computer labs, smaller class sizes and expert lecturers.

“The campus is amazing and has lots of different areas to study in – like the rooftop!

“It feels like a true community here, everyone is super kind and welcoming. After having studied here for two years I feel a sense of belonging that I haven’t felt anywhere I studied previously.”

Juggling a toddler and a teenager while studying, Linda’s passion for Computer Science is fuelled by her drive to shape the future.

Computer Science offers a wide range of career opportunities which really excites me. I enjoy problem-solving and appreciate that Computer Science has an emphasis on continuous learning which perfectly aligns with my desire for intellectual growth.
